Certifications Allow a System to Sell SRECs in that State
All states with SREC markets require solar energy systems participating in their market to have a certification number specific to their state market. A New Jersey Certification number allows you to sell SRECs in the New Jersey market.
NJ Certifications Are Issued by NJ CEP
The New Jersey Clean Energy Program (NJ CEP) issues certification numbers for the NJ SREC market.
Why Do I Need to Provide My NJ Certification?
Customers should provide Sol Systems with their New Jersey Certification number for GATS registration. GATS is the entity in charge of minting SRECs in PJM.
What Does the Certification Number Look Like?
The certification number will be in the following format, where each “#” is a digit.
NJ-######-SUN-I
Where Is My NJ Certification Number?
The NJ CEP sends Certification Numbers by email to the system owner. The subject line for this email is generally NJ SRP CERTIFICATION LETTER - COMPLIANT.
If you cannot locate the email in your inbox or didn't receive one, we recommend reaching out to the New Jersey Clean Energy Program directly by phone or email.
