SRECs expire after 3 to 5 years
In most state markets, SRECs expire after three years. While the SREC itself won't disappear from your Sol Systems account or from GATS, it will no longer be eligible for sale.
SRECs can be sold for up to five calendar years after their date of creation in the State of Virginia.
As SRECs approach expiration, they often become less attractive and therefore become harder to sell. We recommend to signing up to sell SRECs as soon as your system is interconnected to get the best price.
Legacy SRECs can still be sold
If your system produced SRECs within the last few years, they can be transferred to Sol Systems to be sold.
