How do I report a meter reading?

Whether you need to report a meter reading depends on how your system is set up. Some systems report automatically, while others require self-reporting.

Am I required to self-report my meter reading?

You are required to self-report if:

  • You received an email from Sol Systems requesting a meter reading, or

  • Your system is set up for manual reporting

If you are unsure, you can confirm your reporting method in the Sol Systems Dashboard.

How do I find my meter reading?

Before submitting a reading, you will need to:

  • Determine which device to report from (dedicated meter or inverter), and

  • Locate the total production reading displayed on the device

You can find detailed instructions on locating and reading your meter here.

How do I submit my meter reading?

If you already have your meter reading, follow these steps:

  1. Log in to the Sol Systems Dashboard

  2. Click the Systems tab in the top navigation

  3. In the Systems table, click Add Meter Reading

  4. Enter your meter reading and click Submit

What if my reading is flagged?

Occasionally, the Dashboard may flag a reading that appears unusually high or unusually low.

If this happens, you will be required to attach:

  • A screenshot from your remote monitoring platform, or

  • A photo of your dedicated solar meter clearly showing the reading

Self-reporting in Massachusetts

Massachusetts customers must follow state-specific reporting requirements.

  • Customers set to self-report must enter readings directly into the MassCEC Production Tracking System

  • Solar systems:

    • Under 25 kW may self-report

    • Over 25 kW must report through an approved Data Acquisition System (DAS)

A step-by-step video tutorial for Massachusetts self-reporting is available through MassCEC.
