Is my system eligible for production estimates?

Some state SREC programs allow energy production to be estimated instead of reported from an actual meter. Production estimates are calculated by PJM’s Generation Attribute Tracking System (GATS), the SREC-awarding entity. Eligibility for production estimates depends on state-specific rules.

Maryland production estimate eligibility

Solar systems located in Maryland may be eligible for production estimates if both of the following apply:

  • The system size is 10 kW AC or smaller, and

  • The system does not have a revenue-grade meter

Washington, DC production estimate eligibility

Solar systems located in Washington, DC may be eligible for production estimates if both of the following apply:

  • The system size is 10 kW DC or smaller, and

  • The system does not have a revenue-grade meter

How are production estimates created?

For eligible systems, energy production is estimated by GATS using system specifications and approved modeling tools. Systems using production estimates do not need to report meter readings.
