# Production Estimates

Production Estimates

In some cases, SRECs can be created based on estimated energy production, rather than actual production. 

Two SREC markets, [Washington DC](https://help.srecs.solsystems.com/articles/Knowledge/Washington-DC-SRECs-101?hsLang=en-us)[.](https://help.srecs.solsystems.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039839433?hsLang=en-us) and [Maryland](https://help.srecs.solsystems.com/articles/Knowledge/Maryland-SRECs-101?hsLang=en-us), allow SRECs to be based on production estimates. GATS uses [PV Watts](https://pvwatts.nrel.gov/) to calculate estimates for eligible systems in those markets.
