What is a state certification number?
A state certification number is an identifier issued by a state public service commission that authorizes a solar energy system to generate and sell SRECs or RECs.
How do I get a state certification number?
In most states, Sol Systems obtains the state certification number on your behalf.
Once all required documentation is received, Sol Systems will:
-
Register your solar energy system with the appropriate state public service commission
-
Collect the system’s state certification number
Are there any exceptions?
Yes. New Jersey is an exception.
-
In New Jersey, solar installers are responsible for obtaining the state certification number
-
The certification number is provided to the homeowner, who must then share it with Sol Systems
