What happens to my SRECs if I move?

SREC rights belong to the owner of the solar asset. If you sell the home or property where the solar system is located while under an active contract with Sol Systems, your SREC account and Sol Systems contract will transfer to the new property owner.

What should I do if I am planning to move?

If you are planning to move or have already moved, please notify Sol Systems by emailing info@solsystems.com.

Include the following information in your message:

  • The street address of the solar system

  • The new owner’s full name

  • The new owner’s phone number

  • The new owner’s email address

  • The closing or settlement date

  • Closing documents, such as:

    • HUD-1 form

    • Deed or title transfer

    • ALTA form

    • Purchase and sale agreement
(Any signed agreement showing transfer of ownership is acceptable)

  • Your new mailing address, if a final payment needs to be issued by check

What happens after I submit this information?

Once the required information and documents are received:

  • Sol Systems will send electronic paperwork via DocuSign to the new owner

  • Sol Systems will submit a Change of Ownership (COO) request to the appropriate state agency

  • System ownership details will be updated in PJM’s Generation Attribute Tracking System (GATS)

How long does a change of ownership take?

Changes of ownership are a multi-step process and may take several weeks to complete, depending on how quickly all required documents are submitted.

All change-of-ownership requests are processed in the order received.
