Where do I find my meter reading?
Your meter reading depends on whether your system has a dedicated solar meter. You can confirm this by checking the Sol Dashboard.
Step 1: Check if your system has a dedicated meter
*This only applies to customers there are NOT on automated reporting. If we are recording your produce via a remote monitoring platform, this does not apply*
- In most cases, there is a physical dedicated solar meter located on the side of your property. Below are two examples:
-
Please note that if this meter displays the name of your utility company (i.e. BG&E) anywhere on it, this is a utility meter and we cannot accept this reading
- Utility meters do not accurately monitor solar generation since they are also taking into account what you are consuming in your home
Step 2: Read the meter
Most meters display a single cumulative number, shown in:
-
Kilowatt-hours (kWh), or
-
Megawatt-hours (MWh)
If your meter displays multiple values, look for the reading labeled “total” along with kWh or MWh.
-
On the System Details page, look for an expandable section labeled “Dedicated Meter(s)”
-
If you do not see a Dedicated Meter(s) section, report generation from your revenue-grade meter
-
If you do see a Dedicated Meter(s) section, expand it to view the manufacturer and model
