Where do I find my meter reading?

Your meter reading depends on whether your system has a dedicated solar meter. You can confirm this by checking the Sol Dashboard.

Step 1: Check if your system has a dedicated meter

*This only applies to customers there are NOT on automated reporting. If we are recording your produce via a remote monitoring platform, this does not apply*

  • In most cases, there is a physical dedicated solar meter located on the side of your property. Below are two examples:

  • Please note that if this meter displays the name of your utility company (i.e. BG&E) anywhere on it, this is a utility meter and we cannot accept this reading

  • Utility meters do not accurately monitor solar generation since they are also taking into account what you are consuming in your home

Step 2: Read the meter

Most meters display a single cumulative number, shown in:

  • Kilowatt-hours (kWh), or

  • Megawatt-hours (MWh)

If your meter displays multiple values, look for the reading labeled “total” along with kWh or MWh.

  1. On the System Details page, look for an expandable section labeled “Dedicated Meter(s)”

  • If you do not see a Dedicated Meter(s) section, report generation from your revenue-grade meter

  • If you do see a Dedicated Meter(s) section, expand it to view the manufacturer and model
